Back in April nearly thirty of us newbies from the advertising world undertook the European Advertising Certificate.
Anyone with up to 2 year’s industry experience could participate. It consisted of about thirty hour’s online coursework which was evaluated by a 3 hour written exam (yikes). This exam also took place simultaneously across Europe.
The learning on this course consisted of different aspects of the industry varying from developing creative and media briefs to understanding the client’s business better. We had online tutorials, lessons, assignments and discussion groups to convey what we had learned with our fellow students.
After all the late nights reliving our college years leading up to the final exam the results finally came in September. Yay, all of us in Mindshare passed with flying colours!
Would I recommend it to future aspiring executives in the industry – most definitely. In an industry that doesn’t really have official recognition it is a ‘must’ to have. As this was only the first year here in Ireland I can only expect it to become obligatory for all agency executives to do this. I am already looking forward to the next level!
